What Dosage Of Lactodex Is Required For Severe Painful Constipation In An Infant?
Question: sir my nephew is 2.5 months old and from few days he is having tight stool. he is taking lactodex: .5 teaspoon with 1 ounce water. he cries with pain a lot during defecation.
Brief Answer:
The dilution is 1 scoop in 30 ml (1 ounce) water
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Passing stool 7 times a day or once in 4-5 days in normal in infants unless it is associated with abdominal distension, vomiting or blood mixed stool.
The proper dilution of lactose formula milk is 1 scoop (provided in the container) in 30 ml (1 ounce) of pre-warmed and cooled water.
Babies on formula milk are found to be more constipated when compared to those on breast milk.
Too much concentrated formula also causes constipation. I suggest you to dilute the formula properly and see the effect.
I hope this helps.
