What Happens When Losartan Dose Is Missed For Few Days?

Question: I am on hoiday and have inadvertantly run out of my Losartan. Will not be back home for another 7 days, Will this break be okay. No previous heart problems and only very slightly raised BP.

with slightly raised blood pressure levels , serious acute consequences like stroke are unlikely.

however, stopping treatment is not good. at times there is rebound hypertension . this means when treatment is stopped, that blood pressure rises more faster than usual. I advice always checking and replacing the drug a week at least before it runs out.

please, do not take extra or higher doses when you restart the drug. you might have to continue the dose prescribed by your doctor while following up your blood pressure values. in case it's to low or remains above the normal, you might then contact your primary care physician.
