Are there other causes, such as a microbe? Will a stool sample disclose this condition and cause? Is it treatable?
Brief Answer:
Microbe will not cause.
Detailed Answer:
HI
Microbe as cause of keriorrhea has not been implicated as the cause, as of now its the consumption of certain fish ( mainly oilfish ) which causes keriorrhea.
Stool sample can suspect this condition but it will not disclose the cause. Only very few laboratories can detect the wax esters which causes keriorrhea.
The recommended treatment is to avoid eating those fish .
Hope this information was useful to you.

Thank you for you reply.
I would like to pursue this with at least one more question. I asked if microbes could be causing the condition and I respect your answer. I do not eat fish more than once or twice a month and it is only Cod or Haddock.
Could the cause be an intestinal parasite?

Brief Answer:
Cod fish consumption can cause keriorrhea
Detailed Answer:
HI
NO in my personal experience and also I went through literature also , there is no documented evidence of Parasite causing Keriorrhea.
Cod fish is known to cause keriorrhea hence stop taking it. In fact avoid taking fish for 2-3 months.
Also get Stool for Ova, cysts and Fat globules tests done and revert back with reports.
