What Is A Growth Scan?
Good afternoon!
I am 25 weeks pregnant and my gynae has advised me to go for TSH,Haemoglobin and Urine test and get the reports before my next visit when I will be 26 weeks pregnant .I am already taking Thyronorm 100.My question is I will be going for TSH and other tests tomorrow so TSH test is always empty stomach ,so before going for the test , should I take Thyronorm100 and go for the test or take the medicine once the test is done .I want my results to be accurate ,thus the query.
28th week, I will be going for Growth scan and DTAP Vaccine. What is growth scan?
What is Fundal height? In 24 weeks my fundal height was approx 24. don't remember exactly. Is the bay's growth ok?
I am now taking Susten 300 after a gap of three days and sometime 4 days. Is it Ok?
I will be entering 7th month (26th Week) on 22nd July 2016.What is generally the safe time for a woman to give birth? How much growth of the baby is left after 26th week?
Can i drink tea sometimes as I have stopped it completely?
Can I take Ecosprin 75 after 7th month also?
Details below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
You are taking thyronorm regularly. It is best to take thyronorm at your scheduled time tomorrow also and give the blood sample either before taking the tablet- means early in the morning or at least two hours after taking the tablet.
Growth scan is an ultrasound scan to monitor baby's growth and well being.
The fundal height is measurement of the uterine fundus from symphysis pubis. At 24 weeks, a fundal height of 24 is normal.
If you are taking Susten 300 after 3-4 days then you can stop taking it. It is not needed.
Normally you can deliver a baby anytime after 37 completed weeks. After 26th week, most of the organs have developed but baby yet needs to attain maturity and gain weight.
You can have tea once in a while.
Yes. you can continue taking ecosprin after 7th month also.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

My gynae has advised me to get TSH, Haemoglobin,Urine Sample done at 26th weeks.Attaching the reports. kindly advise. My hb is 10.3 and its marked red so dont know if that is low or high . kindly suggest how dat can be rectified.
Hope you can view my attached report also.
Hemoglobin is low.
Detailed Answer:
I have seen the reports. The hemoglobin is low. It can be rectified by iron supplements and diet rich in iron. Oral iron supplements are prescription drugs and you are already taking it. At the same time, you can take Tablet Centrum 1 tablet in the morning 1 hour before/after food. You can also take tablet folic acid 5 mg once a day to take care of any folate deficiency.
The following foods are rich in iron and would prove useful for you:
a. Beans
b. Legumes
c. Grains
d. Meats
e. Jaggery
f. Green leafy vegetables like spinach

I was supposed to get a dtap vaccine on 28th week but dat vaccine is not available currently in market so my gynae has told me to get influenza vaccine and tetanus in 9 th month. Is the course of treatment correct? She was also telling about swine flu vaccine.what is that ?
I hve entered my 7 th month.Any precautions to be taken during third trimester?
You can take tetanus shot now.
Detailed Answer:
If DTaP vaccine is not avail;able then take a tetanus shot now. Two tetanus injections are needed six weeks apart. If you have have already taken the first dose then do take tetanus second dose now.
Influenza and swine flu are other vaccines that can be given during pregnancy but are not compulsory. You can avoid them also.
During the third trimester you need to concentrate on a high protein diet and do a daily exercise like walking for 15 minutes.
