What Is A Parasagittal Meningioma?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 May 2023
Question: Hi Doctor:

I had a craniotomy 24 years ago to remove an extremely large meningioma the size of an orange from the left frontal region. No recurrence of tumor. Last year found a small anterior frontal convexity meningioma 11mmx6mm the opposite side of the last one. Went for yearly follow up MRI because it's on watch and wait and the measurements are now 11mmx9mm. The report reads right parasagittal meningioma 11mm across by 9mm AP dimension not significantly changed, allowing for difference in measuring technique. My concern is that last years MRI was a convexity meningioma and this MRI is a parasagittal meningioma? Also not sure is its growing or a measurement difference.

Hi Doctor:

Thank you for your quick response. Quick questions. I am trying to understand why last year's report was at the convexity which is, from my understanding, easier to remove, and yet this year's report is parasagittal which would be harder to remove. Are they two separate areas? Also, at the current measurements, would they just consider watch and wait? Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
Continue follow up

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The recurrence in meningioma is well reported. The location can be at different sites over convexity or in parasagital area.

At present, the size is almost similar and error in measurements can occur.
You should not worry and be in regular follow up for treatment with a neurologist.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Do get back to me for further information.

Brief Answer:
Both locations are same

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Convexity is the surface over brain. Parasagital is location. The location mentioned as right frontal or parasagital is the same. The increase is not significant and most likely measurement error.

Hope I have answered your query.
