Hi,
Detailed Answer:
About your problem, one thing is coming to my mind is that you should see some physician & discuss with him a possibility of Sjogren"s syndrome in your case.
It is an auto-immune condition in which there are two main symptoms- dry eyes & dry mouth. The condition often accompanies other immune system disorders like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus etc. In this syndrome mucus membranes & moist secreting glands of your eyes & mouth are usually affected first, resulting in decreased tear & saliva. Due to dry eyes- you may feel burning eyes, itchy or gritting eyes with a feeling like sand is present in them. Due to dry mouth, you may feel as if your mouth is full of cotton, making it difficult sometimes even to swallow & speak also.
Some of the people with these conditions may also have some of the following symptoms simultaneously or may appear later on.
- Breathing difficulty due to presence of dry nose.
-Dry & irritable persistant cough due to presence of dry throat.
- Swelling of salivary glands
- Dryness of skin & rashes
- Pain, swelling or stiffness of joints
- Feverish feeling
-Prolonged fatigue
Though, no known precise treatment is there in this condition. Most of the times, treatment of the symptoms is the only available relief to the patients.
However, as the medical understanding of the disease is improving, future may see some advancement in the treatment with some immune system modulating agents.
Thanks.
