Hi
I saw the picture.
It looks like a Boil.
It is healing.
I prescribe Antibiotic like Linezolid 600mg twice daily along with Anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints.
Please consult a Doctor and get appropriate prescription..
Do not apply any pain killer ointment over it.
Nothing to worry.
It will come down.

Boil sounds awful. Is there a way to prevent this

I am sorry that I have used the term Boil.Furuncle is the technical term for Boil.
You have taken appropriate treatment like Antibiotic and hot compress.You should add anti inflammatory tablet too.
As the picture,it is coming to Normalcy.
Nothing to worry.
It is responding to treatment.
