THE GREEN LINE GOING FROM THE ESOPHAGUS TO THE STOMACH SHOULD BE A GREEN LINE.....MINE IS RED AND VERY ENLARGED.I HAVE HAD A COLONOSCOPY, ENDOSCOPY, SWALLOW TEST, EMPTY OUT TEST. THEY ALL THOUGHT IT WAS ACID REFLUX. I AM SHORT OF BREATH ALL THE TIME AND MY HEART PALPITATES. ESPECIALLY WHEN I EAT THERE IS AN ACUTE SHORTNESS OF BREATH AND HEART ISSUES. Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this diagnosis of hypercontractile esophagus. IT IS NOT CANCER and it CANNOT lead to CANCER.

This is a condition where the smooth muscles of the esophagus contracts so hard and causes pain. It is similar to what happens when persons have muscle cramps. Symptoms can be severe and at times lead to the impression that this is a heart attack. Treatment relies on using drugs like beta blockers, muscles relaxants, etc. The best specialist you can work with on this is a gastroenterologist.

What do you mean by "yours is rather red and enlarged"? This is not atypical language in medicine and I will suggest that you upload the complete results sheet so that I can look into and provide you with answers about this exact finding.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information if need be.

thank you for the review. I really appreciate it. I cannot upload the files for you. Just tell you what it said. The doctor showed me a picture with a green line going from the esphogus to the stomach. It should be green all the way down; however, mine was not a line - it was bulged out and red in color (probably to differenciate the thin line or bulging. Also, would wearing a C-PAP machine every night at pressure sat at 15 for a long time and now reduced to 12 (because of mask leaking all the time). Does wearing a C-PAP machine induce this type of problem --- pressure on the esphogus?

Brief Answer:
NO

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up precision.

Wearing a CPAP would not cause this problem. There is no relation between the two conditions. A dilated oesophagus signals a condition called achalasia or mega-esophagus. Ask your doctors if this is one of the possible conditions that you have.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
