What Is Meant By "pleural Based Opacity"?
YYYY@YYYY
Pleaaural based opacity usually benign and has no role in lung blood clots
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
A pleural based opacity points towards an area in the covering of the lung that might have appeared white on X ray. It is important to know the complete description of such an opacity to confirm the cause. When much detail is not provided, it probably refers to a benign small area attached to the covering at lung surface and in all likelihood is taken as a benign finding.
Following surgery a pleural based opacity will not cause multiple blood clots in both lungs. The opacity is placed at a distance from the blood vessels in the lungs and it is unlikely that the clots in lungs were due to the pleural based opacity.
Should you have a detailed description of the pleural based opacity and a CT scan done then we can discuss further about the characterization of such an opacity and its cause and implications. If nothing much was discussed by your doctors regarding this opacity and if no CT scan chest was ordered by them then is is of a benign nature with no additional risks.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
