Brief Answer:
There inflammation in the large bowel above the rectum

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The sigmoid colon is part of the large bowel above the rectum. In your CT scan, there is a probable thickening of the wall of the large bowel in the sigmoid colon. This is most likely due to an infection or inflammation as mentioned in the report. Non specific means not definitely due to a particular cause but might be due to any of the inflammatory conditions involving the large bowel.

2. Left perinephric stranding mean there is a reactive change seen in the fat surrounding the left kidney and this might be from the inflammatory process in the adjacent large bowel. The left kidney is normal unless otherwise specified.

3. The CT scan findings show an inflammation of the large bowel and associated changes in the fat surrounding the left kidney.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
