Posted on Tue, 12 Apr 2016
Question: My doctor wrote me the attahed eyeglasses script. Based on the information can you determine the O.D. axis? I spent alot on glasses today and Lens Crafters never asked making me believe it was easy to understand.

Brief Answer:
65

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This looks like 65degrees and I would have been happier if the axis was rechecked to rule out any defect later on.Though 65 is incongruous with 170 of other eye and if the glasses are delivered then you have to see if you are comfortable.
Any further query in this regard please do get back to me.

Brief Answer:
Axis

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Once you point it out this looks more like it. 5 degree appears is what is more congrous. What appeared to me 65 was may be 5 and 6 was cut out to a final 5 degrees.
I will be keen to know what the lens cutter did for a final product.

Perhaps this might help. This is my old perscription written by a different doctor. My "new" doctor said my script "slightly" changed. It looks like the doctors wrote the scripts differently. Using the old and the new are yoy bettet able to determine a more concrete guess as to the number in question?

Brief Answer:
Axis

Detailed Answer:
my dear,
Thanks for getting back to me with old prescription. According to this 5degree looks OK.
I will go into slight detail.
Spherical power acts all around and cylindical power acts at 90 degree to given axis. So your new power is effectively
-0.25 sph,-2.25 cylindical at95 degree OD
-0.75 sph ,-2.25 cylindical at 80 degree OS
This is congrous with old prescription.

Ok just becuse this is slightly complex i want to comfirm. Based on what your saying you believe "5" is the true number that should be in the Axis box for O.D. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most sure). How sure sure are you with all thr available information that this number should be 5? Much Appreciated!
