What Is Penile Smooth Muscle Cell Lifespan?

default
Posted on Sat, 17 May 2014
Question: i have a concern about my oxandrolone steroid treatment (aged 14) and effect on penile tissue. It may have caused slight growth at the time.

Its been suggested penile cells are replaced every 3 months, but after some reading , i learned that penis contains smooth muscle also. And i think muscle never gets replaced.

Please could you advise penile smooth muscle cell lifespan?

Thanks and Best Regards

Brief Answer:
these cells are permanent cells

Detailed Answer:
welcome to the forum.
I wonder why you need to know the answer for the life span of penile smooth muscle.
You have the answer already. These cells enlarge in size with the growth of the person and do not multiply.
So the life of these cells are the same as that of the individual himself.
The penile skin cells are similar to skin cells anywhere else in the body.
As long as you have libido ( interest and inclination to have sex) and erection enough to have penetrative sex, these things are immaterial and there should be no cause of concern.
Hope u have reassured you,
Truly,

Hi . Thanks for your attention.

Which part of the cell grows as I know DNA never changes?

And when these cell proteins increase in size, do they have fixed lifespans? Ie are they renewable?

Brief Answer:
Muscle cells are permanent cells------------------

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
The growth can be in sarcoplasm of the muscle cell ( water like content within the cell) or myo-fibrils ( muscle fibers).
Muscle cells are not renewable as i had already written because these are permanent cells.

Does the nucelus grow?

And other than DNA, are nucleur organelles renwable?

i understand nucelur organellees are proteins and amino acids so must degrade at some point?

Thanks again,

I have one final question about composition of spermatogonia cell and mature spermatozoa cell. Do they contain same kind of protein and organelles?

Or does composition completely different when spermatogonia reaches maturation?
