Question: For about 11 months now I have noticed a strange change in my metabolism on random days. Maybe 2 random days a week my metabolism seems to be significantly higher even if diet and activity is same. Blood test normal including thyroid. I have put on weight in this time but not as much as Maybe I should have. Is this concerning?

By metabolism I mean if I eat the same food and do the same activities some days my weight stays the same, some days I add weight and some days I lose weight for no reason. Overall I have put on /addedd about 2 stone in this time but wondering why some days I lose weight maybe 2 days a week my metabolism seems to increase.

Brief Answer:
Water weight

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the information

Weight gain do not occur over a day or two. Its a relatively slow process. If u are seeing fluctuations in weight over daily basis, it could well be due to change in the water levels in the body.

Yes, your weight gain of 10 to 12 kgs is a matter of concern.

Metabolism usually means the chemical reactions which occur in the body which go in two directions as below

Catabolism, which means buring of food nutrients to produce energy, where weight is lost.

Anabolism, which means laying down the nutrients into body tissues, increasing body weight.

Such weight gain in you could be pathological, i would recommend blood tests to find out the cause.

I suggest first to go with Thyroid hormone analysis.
