What Is Specific Type Of Autoimmune Disease?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 May 2024
Question: Hello! I have a good friend who has worried about autoimmune diseases and she has consulted with a rheumatologist. Unfortunately no definitive diagnosis has been made. She had ANA tested last year and just recently this year. Both came back positive and I am attaching copies of the results. We have no idea how to decipher them. The one marked “22” is from last year, and the one “23” is the test she just had done. Do the recent results appear to be better or worse than last year’s test, and do the results point to any one or more specific type of autoimmune disease? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
ANA levels can be raised in normal individuals also.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read the query .Your friend is worried about autoimmune disease and got ANA Test but it has come positive.
You have not mentioned if she has any problems.
ANA levels can be raised in normal persons or in viral infection also , so only having positive ANA test does not mean that you have autoimmune disease. Normally we get a test done to confirm a disease depending on the clinical picture.
There is not much difference between the results in two years.
I would suggest that your friend should not worry about the results , if she has no clinical problems.
Thanks for the question. I hope to have answered your query. Please feel free to ask any other question.
Thanks.
