What Is The Best Treatment For Bug Bite Like Rashes At The Buttock Area?
Question: Hello, A brief background. I have just finished a course of Amoxicillin 125 mg for sinusitis and had a flu/cold. In addition, had a moderate bug bite rash, treated with Triamcinolone cream .50% and had a shot to take down the inflammation. Currently, still using the Triamcinolone cream and Hydroxyzine HCL 50mg at night. The Dermatologist said the rash was due to bug bites and is now getting better, no more bites. However, I think the Amoxicillin gave me a fungus infection between the buttock are not vagina. I am not prone to vaginal infections, actually only have had a couple in my life but never have had a fungus infection between the buttocks. Have tried treating the fungus infection with Monistat 3 day cream, inserted vaginal and treated buttock area for 3 day. However still have buttock fungus infection, it appears less red/pale white and smaller but still present. Please excuse my ignorance for the next question: Can I use the same bath towel twice or can a fungus infection pass to other household members by using my towels. Also, what is the best treatment to apply to the buttock area, it is messy with the creme and not sure if it stays on through the night. Thank you for your time.
Brief Answer:
Terbinafine ointment
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The fungal infection can occur between the buttocks as it is an area prone to continuous moisture, and fungus is increased in moisture.
You can take Terbinafine ointment or gel for applying on the affected areas.
Oral Fluconazole should also be taken if the infection is extensive (may need a prescription from your local doctor for them).
However, a dermatologist examination is recommended to rule out any other lesion.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Feel free to ask further.
