Brief Answer:
Differentials of diarrhoea are too wide
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am Dr.Omer and I am here to help you with your query.
I have read your query in detail and seems like you are having severe diarrhoea even though you are taking anti-diarhoeals like lomotil with an age of 78 years.
You have co-morbids like
rheumatic fever , for that i hope you have done
echocardiography to check your valves.Your old surgeries dont seem to be related to your diarrhoea.
You are taking too many supplements , following are the drug interactions
grape seed + estradiol ( cream)
grape seed will increase the level or effect of estradiol . Significant interaction possible, monitor closely.
aspirin + nebivolol ( bystolic)
aspirin decreases effects of nebivolol .Significant interaction possible, monitor closely , no diarrhoeal effect.
omega 3 fatty acids + aspirin
omega 3 fatty acids, aspirin. Significant interaction possible, monitor closely. Patients taking omega-3-fatty acids and an
anticoagulant or other drug affecting coagulation should be monitored periodically due to potential increased risk of bleeding. .
nebivolol (bystolic) + aspirin
nebivolol and aspirin both increase serum potassium. Potential for interaction, monitor ,that can cause severe diarrhoea.
Well there can be other causes for your diarrhoea , and an internist review for tests like stool examination ( will show type of diarrhoea) , complete blood picture ( to rule out infective cause of diarrhoea) ,
ultrasound abdomen to see
lymphadenopathy , and finally
colonoscopy. As the causes of diarrhoea in your age are too wide.
The above tests will also show us that whether you are allergic to magnessium or any of the medicines you are taking. We also have to evaluate any anxiety problem that may be one of the cause of diarrhoea like IBS (
irritable bowel syndrome).
In the end i would say the you should not take alot many supplements as they may be harmful like excess vitamin E etc.So a detail discussion with your internist is required.
Hope this explains your query in detail.
Feel free to ask any further queries till you are satisfied.
Take care.
