How can this be treated? Does he have to see a doctor or demetologist or can it be treated with an over the counter medication? And is it going to continue to spread and cause more hair loss? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Oral antifungals , treatment woud control spread

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Welcome again.
Thanks for attaching the pics. They are quite useful.

It is tinea capitis only as i mentioned earlier. It is an easily treatable condition.
The drug of choice is griesofulvin that is an antifungal given in a dose of 10-15mg/kg body weight. Once treatment is started, the spread would be controlled.
I will advise you to consult your dermatologist so that treatment can be started under supervision. Here i can advise you but cannot monitor the patient.

If you have any further query, you may ask me. Else you may kindly close the discussion and rate it.

Good luck.
