What Is The Difference Between An Ultrasensitive PSA And Supersensitive PSA?

Question: What is the difference between an ultrasensative PSA and a supersensative PSA? Thanks.
Brief Answer:
they are practically same
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Standard PSA detects till 0.1 ng/ml and below that is undetectable. These new tests can detect till 0.01-0.02 ng/ml.
Institutes using these results have their own cutoff for undetectable PSA. Some centers use a level of 0.05.
Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.

what then is to be made of a reading of 0.003 or 0.036 (three decimal places)?
Brief Answer:
can be considered undetectable
Detailed Answer:
Both may be considered undetectable if the cutoff is set at 0.05 but if it is set at 0.01 then 0.036 is detectable.
But at this stage I wouldn't worry about these too much unless there is a steady rising trend. Both the levels are quite low as of now.
