I am hypermobile and have joint pains bursitis calcific tendinitis joint popping and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome ( pots)!i am going for evaluation? Does this sound more like just hyper mobility and pots or ehlers?
Hypermobility does not necessarily mean that you have Ehler Danlos
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of disorders that affect connective tissues, which are tissues that support the skin, bones, blood vessels, and other organs due to defects in the structure of collagen which is an important constituent of connective tissues that form joints and tendons. Since these connective tissues do not have the tensile strength hypermobility results. But mere presence of hypermobility does not mean that you have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I would insist you not to panic. Get the tests done and you could be certain of the underlying cause.
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is an entirely different and unrelated entity. It would not be related with the hypermobility.
