Whether RSD is a problem related to "peripheral nervous system" or anything else?

Brief Answer:
Mainly involve sympathetic nervous system.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
RSD mainly involves sympathetic nervous system . Treating doctor depends upon primary condition leading to RSD. For example if RSD has occurred after fracture then orthopaedician and physiotherapist will be best treating persons. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Thank you for the answer.
yes, this is in connection with my mother's problem that started after elbow fracture and subsequent ORIF operation befor 4 months ago.
She has the stiffness and pain related probem in the hand.

My treating doctor suspected it to be "osteodystrophy" and suggested wax bath(once per day) and opening and closing of fist.

But when she does the exercise, pain starts at the hand and subsequently pain starts in other body parts also including the whole hand.
Other problems like-absense of appetite, insomnia and tingling of legs, sudden shivering of lower body while sleeping have developed.
I am confused-whether i should meet a neurologist or what?
Please advise.

You can consult pain management specialist.

Your mother probably developed reflex sympathetic dystrophy . There is no role of neurologist in it.She needs mobilisation excercises, physiotherapy and pain management. Along with orthopaedician you can consult pain management specialist ( pain clinic). Now a days there are specialised doctor for pain management, you can consult pain management specialist.
