What Is The Difference Between Panorama Test And AFP Test?

Question: Hi Doctor , could you please tell me what is a deffirent between Panorama test and AFP test? Thank you!
Brief Answer:
different types of abnormalites
Detailed Answer:
Alpha feto protein (AFP) test is a screening test that looks for abnormal levels of AFP that are generated in the fetus. Abnormal levels of AFP can be measured in maternal blood or in amniotic fluid. High levels may indicate a neural tube defect (a defect in the development of the spinal cord in the fetus). The panorama test looks at maternal blood to determine specific genetic abnormalities that may be in the fetus such as down syndrome. Here is a link to the website for the panorama test and it has good information about what it may be able to diagnose.

Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
You cannot ignore it but you need to address this with your obstetrician. it is possible that the high risk AFP is a false positive but only your obstetrician can give you that answer.
