Thanks Dr. Kaltari for your kidn and prompt reply. Since you are suggesting to avoid the drops so is there any side effect in this drop since he is about 7.3 kgs so this amount of dose is considerable......
I have listen somewhere else that for 7-10 kgs baby 1-2.5 ml may be amount of dose for baby, is it true.....
Thanks you

Brief Answer:
Phenylephrine is not considered safe
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr XXXXXXX
Wikoryl has Phenylephrine. The safety of this drug is not established in babies below 2 years of age. It is even not recommended by FDA. In clinical practice it's still widely used in XXXXXXX
The dosage is 1 ml twice a day which puts the total dose at 2 ml per day.
As majority of upper respiratory infection are viral in origin they are self limiting. The require symptomatic treatment to relieve the nasal blockage. I would suggest you the following
1. Normal Saline Nasal drops : 3 to 4 drops in each nose 6 times a day.
2. Normal Saline Nebulization : you can buy nebulizer from pharmacy and use it whenever baby has cold
3. Steam inhalation : Preferably using electronic steamer. Maintain safe distance from baby. Use it for 10 to 15 minutes in the room where baby is sleeping.
Warm and humid air will help relieve congestion
Take care
