Brief Answer:
myomectomy is a must
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I understand your health concerns.
This large fibroid must be removed as soon as possible before it becomes huge enough to cause various bladder and bowel symptoms.
Laparoscopic myomectomy in experienced hands is as safe as open myomectomy.
Myomectomy will result in increased fertility and also will help in preventing recurrent pregnancy loss.
So don't be anxious and prepare your mind for the same.
All the best.

Thank you. The largest fibroid was not that large until I became pregnant in XXXXXXX but I just lost the baby a few weeks ago. It grew very rapidly in first trimester. I looked 8 month pregnant when I was four. My belly was rock hard and would cramp and change shape.
They have not given reason why the baby died. I still wonder if the fibroid could have caused it. I was near 17 weeks pregnant. The only other cause I can think of is I got in argument that weekend and hyperventilated and she died the next morning. Genetic testing showed she was fine.
Will recovery be any different for the two options you mentioned? How will it increase fertility?

Brief Answer:
large fibroids can cause abortion
Detailed Answer:
It is a tendency of fibroid to increase in pregnancy and then it eventually shrinks till 6-8 weeks but since it has already been 4 months past the delivery of baby in XXXXXXX so now this week and now this is the final size of fibroid.
Fibroid can cause defective placental function due to compromised blood supply to the placenta.
Fertility definitely increases after myomectomy and there is decrease in incidence of abortion thus it will be in the best of your interest that you opt for myomectomy as soon as possible.
Increase in fertility is due to rapid ascent of sperms in a normal sized uterus and optimal blood supply to the endometrium.
Yes postoperative recovery is better in laparoscopy than open.
Take care.

No I only lost the baby 3 weeks ago. I got pregnant in XXXXXXX But thank you for the answer.
When I had the baby the nurse mentioned the placenta was very pale. After I had the baby it just fell out on its own with no pushing, etc. There was like lumpy very pale tissue around the placenta and she called it Friable whatever that meant.
You don't think the stress caused the baby to die?

Brief Answer:
not related to stress
Detailed Answer:
No stress was most probably not the reason for abortion at 17 weeks of gestation.
Fibroids seem to be the most important reason.
The pale looking placenta with friability was most likely due to poor blood supply due to fibroid or some internal problem in placenta.
Don't be anxious now and plan removal of fibroid as soon as possible.
Take care.
