What Is The Impact Of Increased Dosage Of Propafanone?

Question: My GP increased my dosage of Propafanone for my atrial fibrillation from 300mg bid to 300mg tid, because I was experiencing symptoms. I had been symptom free for some time. Is this a safe dose to stay on for maintenance? I do have an appointment with my cardiologist in a week or so.
Brief Answer:
300mg TID is the maximum recommended!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I will recommend that you maintain the dosage at 300mg tid. 300mg TID, though maximum recommended, works well for you. I will no want to see you reduce a dose which is in the safe interval and controls your symptoms better than the BID dose.
As you see your cardiologist, you may want to talk this out with him as well. If for real you strongly desire to cut down on the dosage, give it a try and should symptoms recur, then you should return to the current TID dose.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
