What Is The Life Expectancy For Breast Cancer Patient With Brain Metastases?
Question: life expectancy for breast ca patient with brain mets only onc said anymore treatment would cause more harm than good patient has had wbrad 8 gammas and 2 spinalcanal radiation
Brief Answer:
life expectancy not good
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
It appears that the patient has received multiple chemo and radiation treatment and now not doing well. There are situations where we need to say that enough is enough and stop anti cancer treatment. Supportive care continues.
I guess she has reached that stage. Life expectancy can't be predicted without seeing the patient and reviewing all the details. But in such patients of mine, I say 3-6 months usually. More than that is uncommon but possible.
Hope this helps.

they are continuing chemo she has never had recurrence 6 years they say for pain reasons not to have recurrannce same ? as before
the patient is still getting chemo the drs say to avoid pain of recurance she has not had recurances in 6 years her ca marker is 18 but the marker has never stopped brain mets they use the primary tumor as a marker to change the chemo over the years all brain mets are cerebellum she has about 3-4 per gammaradiated again 8 gammas I think drs having trouble telling necrosis from new but there are definitely new ones does this change your opinion on time

Brief Answer:
then probably bit more
Detailed Answer:
In that case, probably chemo options are still open. If the chemo works, then life expectancy can be more, say 1-2 years.
