Brief Answer:
Treatment of resistant depression.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Thanks for asking about your health related doubts.

Resistant depression is difficult to treat condition but with proper drug therapy a lot of individuals come out of depression. In most cases augmentation therapy is given along with conventional antidepressants.

SSRI drugs like Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline, Escitalopram etc are commonly used. Augmentation can be done with drugs like low dose anti-psychotics like Olanzapine, Quetiapine or Risperidone etc. These drugs help to improve the drug response and also directly help to improve the symptoms directly.

Apart from this use of Lithium also proves beneficial. Lithium also helps a lot in resistant depression.

If symptoms persist then other causes like low B12 levels, hypothyroidism etc should be ruled out.

rTMS is also a good option for resistant depression.

I hope this helps you, please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.

Thanks and Take care
