What Is The Normal Ventricle Measurement At 20th Week Of Pregnancy?
Lateral ventricle measurement above 10 mm is considered abnormal
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. The left lateral ventricle is a fluid space in the brain.
2. The mean ventricular width accepted is approximately 6.4 ± 1.2 mm for lateral ventricles in fetuses between 20 and 40 weeks pregnancy which means from 5 mm to 7.6 mm. If your baby has a measurement of 7.6 mm then it is normal.
3. An upper cut off of 10 mm is followed and anything above that is abnormal. It is seen that many times during 19 to 20 weeks the lateral ventricle size changes and therefore at 22 weeks the size of lateral ventricle will be more accurate.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

My baby left ventricular size is 7.6mm i.e. upper cut off in the mean. It doesn't cause any problem. correct ? but mentioned it is normal.
Just am worrrying as my radiologist asked for follow up scan. Does it require follow up scan on 22 week for my baby as my radiologist suggested.
Ventricular dimension 7.6 mm is not a serious concern
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. If I were to be your radiologist and should rest of the scan be normal then probably I would not have worried too much considering that the ventricular dimension is at upper limit of mean.
2. I am not sure if your radiologist wants any other parameters which require a follow up and that is why he has suggested a review scan.
3. In my opinion a 22 weeks scan is a good option and also the ventricular dimension will get re confirmed.
Hope your query is answered.
