What Is The Percentage Of People Who Get Heart Issues With Radiation On The Left Breast For Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?
Question: I have been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, well differentiated left breast. My surgeon says that I can choose lumpectomy with radiation or a mastectomy. I am concerned about the issue of heart trouble due to radiation if I go the with the lumpectomy. I have high blood pressure. It is still trying to get under control. I had an echocarardiogram and have the test results in front of me. Should I be worried about radiation? what are the percentages of people who get heart issues with radiation on the left breast?
