What Is The Possibility Of A Baby Acquiring Father's Blood Group?
Question: Hello Doctor(s),
What is the possibility of a baby acquiring father's blood group.
Reason being i am asking this is, My sister is o+ and her hubby is AB+, what is the possibility of difficulty in pregnancy?
I heard that first pregnancy is 80% fine whether the baby have father's blood group or mother
but for second conceive it will be problematic.
I heard about Anti D injection , would you prefer that , and if yes then should we start for Sister from now for first conceive or it should be after first pregnancy, please suggest with Anti D's pros and cons.

I understand your concern, but I think there is some misprint and most probably your sister is O negative. Please confirm on this.
See, if your sister is negative and husband is positive then there are 50% chances of child being negative and 50% chance of the child being positive.
If she bears a child now then at 28 weeks prophylactic injection of anti D is given and then after delivery blood group of the baby is checked which if negative then no need to give anything but if baby comes out to be positive like his dad then again an injection of anti D is given to mother.
If these precautions are taken then there are no other complication related to blood group.

She is pregnant from 2 month so should we take some precaution before 28 weeks completes.
Is there any harm to child in these 28 Weeks?
what will be the effect on child/Sister?, if you suggest using Anti D injection.
Any other better alternate to the solution without using Anti D??.
