What Is The Prognosis For Recovery From Bladder Tear?

Question: Hello, I had a c section Tuesday and due to my history of c section and pelvic surgery (ectopic, laparoscopic endometriosis diagnosis) my bladder was stretched all the way up my uterus and attached to the uterus with adhesions. My OB either nicked the bladder or the bladder tore about 3cm. He repaired the bladder and I am currently on day 5 of using a Foley catheter in hopes it will heal by day 10.

My questions are twofold. One, what are my chances of recovering normally and being able to have catheter removed on day 10. (Passing the voiding test)

This next question is regarding the catheter. I have already had to have it replaced twice due to blood clot blockage and failure to work after being flushed. I am now seeing little white tissue pieces/clots (sometimes with blood coming out into the catheter. What is this white tissue and is it normal? Also, is it fine to still have tissue clots and small blood clots after day 5 of recovery? I feel hopeless and afraid that something will go wrong and I will not be able to be a good mother to my children.

Thanks for query .
I would recapitulate the history .
You had undergone C section 5 days back and have previous history of c section ,Laparoscopic adhesionolysis etc and had injury to your bladder during recent surgery which is repaired and have indwelling Foley catheter which has to be replaced twice due to being blocked by blood clots .

I would answer your questions point to point .

1) It is common accident to injure the bladder when there are multiple adhesions due to previous surgery that happens even in hands of best experienced Surgeon . .However timely repair of bladder does help to heal up it in due course of time of 10-15 days .

2) The white particles that you are passing through catheter are bunch mucus threads (Muck)secreted by bladder mucosa as a foreign body reaction to catheter which is normal and not to be worried for and will fade away on removal of catheter .

Do not worry you will have normal recovery within 2-3 weeks .

Thank you so much for answering my question promptly.

I do have one more question at the moment, regarding the muck. I will be attempting to remove the catheter on day 10 and am worried that this "muck" may clog up my urethra and cause me to fail the voiding test. Is this possible? Once the catheter is removed, should I be able to pass the white tissue "muck" through my urethra or will this cause a blockage and a failure of the voiding tests? These pieces of muck are relatively small and not extremely frequent. (There is normally around 1 clot per 600 ml of urine in the bag)

Muck is very soft clump of mucus and epithelial cells and never blocks urethra .

As such muck formation would stop after the catheter is removed .

Hello there,
I hope you're not bothered by another question. As you know I have a bladder injury and I am scheduled to have my catheter out Thursday morning. My catheter will have been in for exactly 9 days at that point. (From Tuesday the 3rd at 10 am to Thursday at 8am)
My question is, my surgeon originally said I should leave it in for 10 days but due to my anxiety and the pain I asked him if we could do it one day early. He said yes. My question is,do you think it's a bad idea to do it one day early? Do you think the one day would make a difference?
Also, if I do end up failing the test, I will have the catheter put back in, but do you think the failed voiding test would compromise my healing? In other words, would it damage or potentially hurt my bladder to let it fill and attempt to empty it on day 9?

Urinary bladder healing takes up within 5 -7 days so it will not make any difference even you remove catheter on 9 th day.
