Risk of embli post surgical abortion
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for writing.
I am Dr. Saddiq ul Abidin. I have read your question completely, I understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.
Your question has three main domains, i will try to put them, one by one, separately in my answer.
1. You have undergone a surgical abortion, which is more than ten times safer than a medical abortion, and has been shown to have a an overall complication outcome of 0.4 %, and that too was reported mostly during or just after surgical procedure.
2. The risk of Embolism: You may had been prone to two type of emboli; amniotic or deep vain thrombus.
- The procedure was done 7 days ago, so you are safely out of amniotic fluid embolism risk domain by now, as most of such cases occur within hour to first few days at most.
- You were only six weeks pregnant, and amount of amniotic fluid by end of 12th week is almost 400-500ml but before 10th week it is less than or around 50 ml and risk of amniotic fluid embolism is extremely rare in such trivial amounts.
3. Its been 7 days since surgery. Post surgical patients when subjected to longer bed rests, are prone to deep vein thrombi, which can act like an embolus, and can dislodge to the pulmonary vessels as stasis and vascular damage contribute towards such incidences. Early mobilization, use of TED stockings have shown to be of value in preventing such conditions. So i would suggest you to start mobilization, with little exertions and eat fiber containing diets and start light exercises of your legs and feet.
I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer. Otherwise rate before closing the discussion.
