What Is The Time Frame Or How Long Does Tylenol
TYLENOL#4 DOSE SCHEDULE
Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to Ask a Doctor Service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX
Tylenol#4 is a combination medication used to alleviate pain.
Acetaminophen is the main non opioid ingredient and Codeine is the main opioid pain reliever.
Acetaminophen has a shorter half-life (Time in which drug concentration is reduced to half in the blood )of approximately 2 hours. All of the drugs is excreted out in urine within 24 hours (provided there is no liver dysfunction because it is primarily metabolized by liver).
Codeine stays longer and takes more time to clear from the system.
It has a half-life of about 4 hours and it can continue to work in the body for 4 to 6 hours.Entire dose of codeine will normally leave the system in approximately 16 hours.
Various metabolites of codeine have a longer half-life than codeine and may stay longer. So codeine and it's metabolites take up to 24 hours to completely clear from our system.
In this way,Tylenol#4 would be out of your system in 24 hrs.
The drug doses must have been personalized for you by your clinician.
Kindly don't take it on such an irregular basis.Be sure to follow your doctor’s dosing instructions exactly.
This drug has addiction potential, has side effects, may cause psychological or physical dependence and the medication may not work if taken so irregularly. It will also be difficult for your clinician to review your pain, tailor your doses and to determine if you still need it or it can be stopped.
If you don't have good pain control, your doctor may switch to long-acting opioid medication instead of Tylenol.
Hope that I have answered your query. If there are any doubts, please let me know.
Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
