What Is The Treatment For Actinomycosis?
Question: Pictures of my actinomycosis
Brief Answer:
Facial actinomycosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
You had sent pictures of face alone. Neck and Face are commonly affected.
Actinomyces hates oxygen. So generally surgical debridement of affected tissue is done so that oxygen gets in and kills the organism. Along with it Penicillin / Tetracyclines would be ideal for 6 to 8 weeks as routine treatment.
If the organism reaches deeper tissues the treatment can go on for an year as well. An oral and maxillofacial surgeon should be consulted if the jaws are involved for debridement.
