Question: rIGHT SHOULDER PAIN AND ARM PAIN BUT NOT ARMPIT...SIDE OF ARM, had normal mammogram recently, went to orthopedic doctor who said I had a pulled muscle...
Brief Answer:
this is a distinct possibility
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
The fact that the pain is in the shoulder and along the side of the arm does increase the likelihood that it is related to a strained muscle .
This would be particularly so if it is worse with movement in any particular direction.
This type of injury normally occurs after a history of trauma or repetitive movement of the area involved.
The treatment would entail rest of the shoulder and arm , heat therapy ( this can be done 2 to 3 times a day for 10 to 15 minutes) and the use of anti inflammatory pain killers .
Examples of anti inflammatory pain killers are ibuprofen, cataflam, aspirin, celebrex, naproxen.
Normally with the use of methods the pain should start to resolve within a few days.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
