Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
Yes, it is possible to develop an allergy to a cat that you had for 8 years. By passing of years, your immune system might get weaker, thus, you've become more susceptible to common allergens.
Can you please refer your actual health problems? Has your cat develop any disease related to her skin or nails?
Sometimes, skin problems of cat can make you become allergic!

My cat has had clean checkups every year. Also, I have another cat that I have had for 14 years, and I do not have the same sneezing, watery eyes, etc. that I do with the 8 year old.
Brief Answer:
Try to keep your 8 year old away from you for a few days as following...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,
If you get water eyes, sneezing when close to 8 years old cat, that is suggestive that you are allergic to its hair or skin although it is clean after yearly check ups.
I advise to stay away from your 8 year old for a few days, if no allergy symptoms, then, it is from that cat. If still present, further allergy testing advised for proper evaluations.
Hope it helped!
