Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Ketamine infusion therapy has recently been used to treat patients with depression resistant to conventional treatment. The onset of improvement is rapid instantly after the start of the Ig session. However if no improvement occur after the first two sessions, no response to treatment is expected at all. The duration of action has been varying greatly among different individuals ranging from 3 days to two weeks.
This treatment is still not approved in many countries which makes it unlikely to be covered by insurance.
Follow up CT scans is recommended while on treatment as some people have experienced white matter changes on long term treatment (more than six months).
It acts by blocking a specific brain receptor and not by increasing dopamine.
I hope you find this helpful..
