Brief Answer:
Childhood Obesity
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It appears that your son is obese by his age and weight. This is extermely important to address this issue at this level. It needs a community participation with parents, pediatrician and teacher to start with.
It is found that 18.2 percent of kids between 2yr to 17yr are overweight or obese as per standards. Around 2 percent of urban Indian kids are obese, 8-10 percent of them are overweight, and the number of children being a victim of obesity is growing. Most of the time it is the junk food that has empty calories that is found to be culprit.
Follow Grandmom food preparations at home, no outings and dinners. Cut down chocolate, burger, pizza, gol goppa, biscuits and anything made of flour and maida. Processed food would cost a lot to your child. Anything that is made of sugar and derivatives are going to affect the health of the child. Puffed rice, chikki etc which we used have as snacks are still the best ones.
It is important for you to check your child with Pediatrician / Pediatric Endocrinologist for any medical conditions causing weight.

Hi,
Yes doctors evaluate obesity with initial set of tests which include Thyroid panel as well. So you may go ahead with the help of a Pediatric Endocrinologist.
