Question:
i have undergone episitomy during my delivery three days before. The stitches are painful and am still experiencing severe pain but the bleeding is normal.this is my second child.i find it extremely difficult to pass stools ?is there any remedies like laxatives and pain killers while iam breastfeeding my baby?

Hi,

Usually episiotomy takes about 2 weeks to heal. An ice pack would help relieve the swelling and pain. Sitz-bath may ease soreness and speed healing. You could use medicated creams, OTC painkillers and numbing spray to help the pain. Avoid laxatives, which you could take only incase of constipation. I would recommend high fiber diet and sufficient water intake to prevent constipation.
