What Should I Do About A Large Lump On My Labia Along With A Small Knot And Painful Swelling On The Entire Right Side Of The Labia?
Question: I have a large lump on my labia and the entire right labia is swollen and painful. it began with a small knot about 8 days ago, now the entire labia is approx 4 times the normal size and the lump is as big around as a quarter.

Bartholin's cyst is not an infection, although it can be caused by an infection, inflammation, or physical blockage (mucus or other impediment) to the Bartholin's ducts (tubes which lead from the glands to the vulva).
If infection sets in, the result is a Bartholin's abscess. This causes swelling and pain. If the infection is severe or repeated a surgical procedure known as marsupialization may be required to stop further recurrences.
2. Infected hair follicles - can form small absesses, which can cause a small swelling, but they are associated with redness and throbbing pain.
