What Should I Do About Blood And Mucus That Comes Along With Stool?

Question: Dear Doctor,
I am on a diet without hydrocarbons. I have being having difficulty in going to the bathroom.
ON sunday, I ate spicy shrimp and wine and since then I my stool are with blood. I am taking normacol to smooth the stool. they are smoother but still with blood on top and mucus.

I have hemorrhoids and had a full colonoscopy in June 2015 and everything was ok.

What should I do?

Hi,

After hearing your history sine you are having blood on top and mucus with stool I would advise you to do a stool for occult blood test

As your colonoscopy was done 3 years back you also need to do a fresh colonoscopy and CT scan abdomen test.

For now for bleeding in stool you can take tranexamic acid group of drugs twice daily after food for 3 days with your doctors advise

I am sorry, I am not understanding.

My doctor told me I should repeat the colonosocopy only five years after.

Could this be serious? I am very nervous

Colonoscopy is usually done after 5 years but since you has an episode of bleeding in stool you need to do it now.
