What Should I Do About Fever In An Infant?
Question: my 4 month old has a 100 degree fever. should I do anything for her, or just let it burn out?
Brief Answer:
Give Acetaminophen and observe closely
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
100 degree Fahrenheit temperature is considered to be borderline for treatment and personally, I believe that paracetamol in a dose of 10 mg/kg/dose should be given at this stage to bring down the temperature.
I suggest you monitor the baby closely for the reappearance of fever or any other associated features like a cough, cold, breathing difficulty etc.
I won't get worried if the baby is otherwise active and taking feeds well.
In case of any significant complaints please consult your Pediatrician for a detailed evaluation.
I hope this helps. I shall be happy to help you further.
Regards
