Question: I have foot pain due to a fall.n The doctor said that i had stretched but not torn a nerve going from the inside of my foot to my ankle. He prescribed gabapentin to help hear the nerve. I woke up after my first pill and felt nauseous and lightheaded. This appears to be a very powerful drug. Are there alternatives?

Brief Answer:
normal side effects , similar medicine also has similar aside effects.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
Gabapentin is a very good drug and it has same side effects you are having . These side effects last for few days only and they keep on decreasing over time.
As far as the alternatives are concerned , there is one drug which is in the same group called pregabalin but it also has the same side effects , maybe a little lesser.

I would suggest that you continue it for few days at least.

Thanks
