Posted on Tue, 17 Oct 2023
Question: High. I’m trying to find a opinion on something. My question is. Over a period of about 4 or 5 yours I’ve got something going on I think with my muscles. My family Dr has found nothing wrong except for 3 1/2 years ago he dx me with diabetes so since them he seems to think any problem I my have is related to diabetes and I get it. But back to my question. In the last 5 years I’ve had leg pain that feels like I’ve over exerted myself on a daily basis and now it’s got to the point where it’s not just legs it’s muscles all over my body. My hands arms my back and my joints and if I do any kind of work that’s manual I hurt terrible for days and it doesn’t seem like sleep helps me rejuvenate. Plus there’s other stuff like headaches and acne that I never used to have hands tingling. Is it possible that I’ve got some sort of muscle disease or is this chronic fatigue syndrome really a thing. Could I have something like that what should I do. It’s starting to affect my life and work

Brief Answer:
Canbe due to electrolyte imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Generalised aches on muscle stretches are often found in vitamin D and magnesium deficiency.

I suggest you to consult an endocrinologist and get prescribed vitamin D and magnesium supplements. Your symptoms should improve with that. Also eat magnesium rich foods like bananas, beans, chickpeas, fish, nuts, soybeans, spinach etc which are natural sources of magnesium.

Regarding vitamin D levels, you need to take a XXXXXXX of vitamin D with milk or curd once a week for 8 weeks and then once a month. Each XXXXXXX contains 60,000 IU of vitamin D. But these should be taken only after getting your vitamin D levels checked.
The tingling in hands can be related to vitamin B 12 deficiency. Proper supplements after getting the levels checked will help.
I hope this answers your query.

I appreciate your response Doc but with all due respect I’ve been a hard working man all my life and this is more than just general aches from muscle stretch. I used to workout and did weight lifting in my younger day so I know what sore stretched muscles feels like. I was never not able to do my job or hold my own because of it. What’s going on with me now is like the aches and pains of having a bad flu without having a fever

Brief Answer:
Can be post viral arthralgia/ myositis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
In case the electrolyte imbalance is ruled out then diabetic neuropathy or long term intake of statins also need to be ruled out. such pains can also happen due to a post viral syndrome. You need to have a few tests like blood Sodium and Potassium under the guidance of your physician to find the exact cause.
Hope my answer is helpful.
