What Should I Do If I Don't Get My Period 10-15 Days After Taking Meprate?

Question: I had my last period in June 7. I did pregnancy test on July 30 and Beta HCG was 0.1 mIU/mL. I started taking Meprate for inducing periods on 5 August for five days, 10 mg once a day. I want to know if I don't get my periods within a 10-15 days what should I do? I had my USG in June 2022 and it ruled out any PCOS issues back then.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

In the current scenario, if you do not see a withdrawal bleed even after a week or two after stopping the hormone, I would suggest a proper clinical evaluation followed by a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route to exclude local causes.

If this is normal, you should get further investigations like a complete blood picture, serum FSH, LH , Prolactin, thyroid profile and DHEAS levels. Urinalysis to exclude infection is also needed.

Check if there are any recent weight changes, stress, infections or use of certain medications. Further management can be planned accordingly.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

Regards,
Shanti V.
