Question: What should be diet chart of a 1 year old baby. Can I start giving almonds, pediasure etc. to my baby.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

A one year old can be given most of home cooked foods. Baby foods like cerelac is not required at this age. Almonds can be given.
Pedia sure is after 2 years only.
You can give the foods you cook and eat from your plate.
Foods should include cereals like rice or wheat, pulses, vegetables, fruits, water, oil and ghee. This is called balanced nutrition.
No need to prepare specially for the baby. Regular foods like idli, soft roti in milk, kitchdi, kheer, dhal rice, etc can be given. Make sure the food is soft and minced with fingers before giving.

If OK with family, eggs and non-vegetarian minced foods can be given too.
Cows milk can be given at this age 2 to 3 glasses per day should be OK.
Also try continuing breastfeeding till 2 years if possible.
Eat together as a family. Avoid distractions like TV during meal time.
3 regular meal timings and 3 snack ( eggs, biscuits, fruits, milk, etc) along with breastfeeding will help.
