What Tests Should I Do To Determine If Recurrent Nausea Is Related To The Bile Duct Or The Liver?
Question: I had my gallbladder removed 50 years ago and have not had any problems that I know about.
In the last few months however, I have had problems with nausea - usually starting in the morning
and fading, but often returning even after food. Anti nausea med gives temp relief but even when I am on a strict simple diet, the nausea is there.
If it is problems related to the bile duct and/or liver, what tests should I ask for locally to my local Internist to determine if my continuing problems are related to bile duct or liver?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Possible h.pylori infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I would first recommend that you get a stool analysis for h.pylori infection which is a common cause of the symptoms you are experiencing.. If the test was negative then I would recommend that you get a blood test for liver functions test including AST and ALT together with a blood test for bilirubin level to exclude any liver dysfunction.. If any of these tests were abnormal then you should get an ultrasound abdomen to asses your gall bladder and hepatic status..
I hope you find this helpful..
