What Tests Should Be Done To Check For PCOS?
Question: What hat tests should I undertake to check my current status of PCOS if I am a chronic patient of this syndrome.
Brief Answer:
Follicular scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
More reliable test needed in PCOS to know the status if a Follicular pelvic ultrasound scan. This is also a reliable fertility indicator.
Also, other hormones analysis like Serum levels of androgens (male hormones), including androstenedione, testosterone and Dehydroepiandrosterone should be done. These hormones should be correlated with the clinical features.
Other not so important are LH : FSH ratio, Anti-Müllerian hormone estimation etc.
Hope, I answered your query.
Please let me know if any doubts.
regards,
Follicular scan

I have a very long history of PCOS and am on medication almost since 17. Else I don't get my periods at all. Currently I am on Ayurvedic medication for the last 3-4 months, which though very slowly is bearing results. But the periods come after 2 months or so that too, after long periods of PMS. So I want to get some tests done to figure out what exactly is causing the delay. Will that be possible?
Brief Answer:
Yes,

Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Get the test I mentioned above. They will help you to know the current status of the PCOS you have.
It also gives an idea on how frequent your periods may be and how long the PMS can be.
Hope, I was helpful.
Wish you good health.
