What To Do After Accidentally Swallowing A Piece Of Hard Chocolate?
Question: hello Dr
my baby is 2.5 yes old. he swallowed a hard chocolate. he felt little difficulty for few seconds and swallowed. bit after that he is quite normal. played well and has his food milk etc. but after 8 hours he has developed cough and cold. I took him to my ped to check whether chocolate strucked oer what. but the Dr said it has not strucked. but as he took some time to swallow that may cause some chemical reaction and he said he is having throat and cheat infection. he gave azhitromycin and astalin medicine. but my kid is having bad cough still from 36 hours. is there is any problem with that chocolate am I need to take him to any x ray. I very worried. please help him. he is having fever too

Brief Answer:
Please take a chest X-ray
Detailed Answer:
Hi....By what you say I feel that it could be an aspiration of the chocolate or could be saliva also as the chocolate might have prevented saliva from being swallowed.
The other possibility is that the cough could be a viral illness - unrelated to the chocolate event.
But to be sure - I suggest you to take a Chest X-ray.
Please get back to me with X-ray image.
