Question: hi I have my brother who suffered from depression and suicidal tendencies long back in 2017 and was diagnosed but in 2023 he relashed becoming very hyperactive in his behaviour and not normal as my wedding was there and he was handling most of the stuffs now I again started his consultation with dr XXXXXXX Tiwari who is head of pshycology department in fortis XXXXXXX and was diagnosed with relapsed and started giving medicine zonatal 500mg since march 2023 he is having daily at night and I consult like first on monthly now 6months and my brother is in really good condition he was always an inter overt personality and takes things very serious in his life whatever comes in his way giving his 100percent that is always the issue I want to know whether it’s going on right direction is this medicine not harmful long term cause doctor suggested it will go for 2 years almost and also will he be ever free from medicine what to do in daily lifestyle of his and ours to make him immune to such kind of issues so he won’t suffer a breakdown like this please suggest

- include herbs like ashwagandha, brahmi for better mental health under guidance of ayurveda doctor
- involve in physical activities like yoga, sports, gardening, hobbies, martial arts
- continue doing one's work, no matter how the mood and energy is
- involvement in local temple/cultural activities can help
- learn meditation from a master and practice it daily. I personally follow Art of Living but others are also good. Whatever he likes.
- keep good company
- don't give in to negative tendencies or feelings
- get tested for anemia, thyroid, LFT, KFT, vitamins, electrolytes etc to look for medical causes of similar symptoms
