What To Do To My 6 Year Old Daughter Got Her Ears Pierced Suffering From Pain?
Question: my 6 year old daughter got her ears pierced two months ago. we were applying saline benzalkonium chloride piercing spray once a day for 8 weeks. it showed no sign of any problem n the piercing. but today I saw redness near her stud in one ear and saw pus coming out of back of stud. I am planning to visit doctor tomorrow if it doesn't get better. what should I apply in the night for the infection? tried saline soak using sea salt once. is it ok to apply coconut oil and salt mixture there? is saline solution gud for treatment? how many times should we do it?
Brief Answer:
Antibiotic skin cream/ointment.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Any antibiotic skin cream/ ointment such as Soframycin (framycetin), T-Bact (mupirocin) or Nadoxin (nadifloxacin) should be fine.
2. Apply to the earring/ stud and gently rotate it if possible. Apply 2-3 times per day.
3. Avoid coconut oil. Saline rinse can be done before applying the cream. Once in a day is enough.
4. Get the ear examined tomorrow.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
